Hilary is City & Guilds qualified in fashion and tailoring, so whether you need occasion wear fitted for a wedding, prom or as mother of the bride, or a treasured piece skilfully mended, you're in expert hands.

Do I need an appointment?
You're welcome to drop into the Ixworth shop during opening hours for advice, to drop off a garment or to browse our fabrics and haberdashery. Fittings for alterations and bespoke work are by appointment — usually on a Wednesday or Saturday — so please call us on 01359 233 017 to arrange a time that suits you.
How much do alterations and dressmaking cost?
Every job is different, so prices depend on the garment, the fabric and the work involved. For alterations and repairs we're happy to give you a price when we see the item; for bespoke dressmaking and tailoring we agree the design and costs together before any work begins. Pop in or call and we'll gladly give you a quote.
Do you make wedding dresses and occasionwear?
Although Hilary doesn’t specialise in bridal gowns, she has created many evening and special-occasion garments, as well as carrying out alterations to formalwear. We work with fine fabrics including silks and can guide you through design, fabric and fit. Book a fitting well ahead of your event so there's plenty of time.
Can I learn to sew with you?
Yes. Our Sewing Class Pack is an ideal way to help you make a simple garment and learn sewing techniques. We also offer one-to-one Technique know-how sessions and "Get to Know Your Sewing Machine" sessions tailored to what you'd like to learn.
Do you sell fabric and haberdashery?
We do. Our Ixworth shop stocks dress fabrics, sewing patterns and a well-chosen range of haberdashery — threads, zips, notions and fastenings from trusted names such as Gütermann and Habico. If we don't have something to hand, we're usually happy to order it in.
Where are you and when are you open?
You'll find us at 32/34 High Street, Ixworth, Suffolk, IP31 2HH. We're open Tuesday to Friday 9:30am–4:00pm and Saturday 9:30am–11:30am, and we welcome customers from across Suffolk and further afield.
