Each year during the Summer Term and sometimes during the Easter holidays, I have great pleasure in seeing the Prom Dresses which come to the shop for alteration. It is lovely to see what the girls have chosen and share their excitement for the Prom which is in June -a welcome celebration after all the hard work for GCSEs.
I do enjoy this area of my work. Sometimes customers have bought dresses via the internet only to find that the sizing is not what they anticipated. I like the challenge that this can present to me: bodices and straps might need altering, hems shortened or reshaped. This work can take a bit longer and more fiddly alterations may require a second fitting.
It’s best to make an appointment as Saturday mornings can get fully booked as the date of the Prom approaches .. and don’t forget to bring the shoes and underwear that you would wear with the dress to get the best fit!
Pearce’s Pins can also alter the suits for the boys, too: tightening jackets, shortening/lengthening sleeves, trouser hems, or tapering the trouser legs and adjusting waist bands. Please book an appointment and bring your shoes with you.
