Pearce’s Pins have joined forces with The Pachamama Project! A volunteer-run, non-profit organisation that makes and distributes reusable sanitary pads for refugees around the world, helping to tackle period poverty. Our free events allow people to come along
and help make the reusable pads for the afternoon, making five per bag for each lady. Held at our quaint little shop in Ixworth, we have run 3 events so far and each one has been a great success, with up to 13 people getting involved! There’s something for everyone to do with a process of marking, cutting, pinning, and sewing, so even if you don’t have much experience with sewing or even have never sewed before, there is something for you! All refreshments and materials are provided and we’d love you to come along, a lovely thing to do the afternoon!
We first got involved when we saw the Pachamama project being promoted on the news, something that particularly interested us as we felt we could easily facilitate it, especially with the business we’re in and with the materials we have access to. We contacted the team at Pachamama
and they were more than happy for us to help, as we were eager to contribute to such an important matter. Since then we have made 10 completed bags containing 5 pads each and 18 constructed pads awaiting hand sewing. The Pachamama team do such great, selfless work making sure that having a period is not yet another challenge for these vulnerable people.
